Eucalyptus silk (lyocell) is one of the softest and environmentally friendly fabrics available. A cruelty free and vegan alternative to traditional silk, dubbed “vegan silk”, this fabric is produced using natural eucalyptus fibres, sourced from regenerative forests in Europe. It’s 100% biodegradable and uses x10 less water than cotton during manufacturing.
Often referred to as "the lovechild between cotton and silk," our vegan silk feels super soft and has a luxurious sheen. Our fabric is extremely smooth and gentle on the skin, perfect for people with sensitive skin. Only feathery softness for the perfect night of sleep.
We only use safe, non-toxic chemicals in the production of our fabric. This ensures the manufacturing process avoids polluting air and water emissions, as well as avoids using catalytic agents which create strong unpleasant odours. It is also worth noting that because of the nature of the material, bleach is never required in the processing.
We only use non, toxix, eco-friendly AVITERA® reactive dyes. The dyes drastically reduce water and energy use by up to 50%, salt consumption by 20% and cut overall cycle time by 25%. In addition, the dyes adhere to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZHDC) Group's manufacturing restricted substances list.
Be sure to always wash your pillowcase in cold water and on a gentle cycle
Use a mild (preferably biodegradable) detergent to avoid damaging or wearing away the fabric
Wash separate from other laundry to avoid getting hooked on to zippers or latches, which can cause pilling.
Avoid bleach, because it will wear away at the sheets. Fabric softener is not necessary since our fabric is already super soft!
When possible, let your pillowcase dry naturally in order to help preserve the fibres and colour. However, if you don’t have the option of naturally line drying, you can use a dryer – just be sure to choose the low heat and low tumble option.
Our pillowcases are completely unscented. Our production process utilizes the wood pulp, and therefore doesn't leave any oil remnants from the leaves. Our vegan silk is unscented so it’s non-irritating and hypoallergenic, therefore it’s safe for people with sensitive skin or allergies.
Eucalyptus and Bamboo fibres overlap in many ways - they're both fast growing and sustainable, have a soft feel and silky drape as well as hypoallergenic properties.
The main comparison between TENCEL™ Eucalyptus Lyocell vs Bamboo is within the production process used in turning wood into pulp. The solvent used for the chemical production of Bamboo fabric is Sodium Hydroxide (NaH), which is corrosive and potentially harmful to the surrounding environment of the production factory. Whereas, TENCEL™ uses N-methyl Morpholine N-oxide (NMMO), a comparatively friendlier solvent for the environment.
Moreover, with the lack of standardization between all Bamboo manufacturing, unlike Lenzing TENCEL™, it makes it difficult for consumers to judge which are truly environmentally friendly.
By choosing to purchase TENCEL™ eucalyptus lyocell, you are not only making the best choice for your bedroom, but you’re also making the right choice for the environment around you.
We only use authentic certified TENCEL™ eucalyptus lyocell to produce our fabric, the highest quality eucalyptus lyocell available on the market. When buying lyocell products it's important to look for the TENCEL™ certification as a badge of high quality and sustainable production.
To receive certification, our brand had to go though rigorous testing, we passed with flying colours however other brands could not. You will find others advertise their uncertified products as "lyocell" and do not mention the word TENCEL™, indicating that the product does not reach the high standards of quality and sustainability that we do.
By choosing our eucalyptus lyocell you are getting the best of the best in quality and sustainability. At touché we guarantee you the softest, most eco-friendly and luxurious vegan silk you can buy.
We chose eucalyptus silk pillowcases as our first product range as we felt this was the best way to introduce our customers to our brand before introducing more complex products.
We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback and requests for other products in our fabric which we are so grateful for!
Rest assured we're working on providing our customers with a larger product range with the same level of quality and detail as our pillowcases. To stay updated with any news on product releases please sign up to our mailing list and follow us on social media.
We're proudly Australian owned and operated.
The eucalyptus fibres used to produce our fabric are responsibly grown by Austrian textile company Lenzing AG. The fabric is then woven and sewn in an OEKO-TEX® certified factory in China.
The final product is shipped from our warehouse in Melbourne, Australia.
All touché products are completely machine washable. Please wash on a cool and gentle cycle using a mild detergent. To keep your pillowcase in the best condition we also recommend washing it separately to avoid it getting hooked on zippers or latches, which can cause pilling.
We recommend line drying your touché products if possible. If tumble drying please do so on a low heat and low tumble setting.
Unlike many other types of bedding that are made with toxic solvents and chemicals, it is not necessary to wash your touché pillowcase before use - it’s ready to use straight from the package! Unless of course it's your preference to wash it before use.
We recommend using a mild (preferably biodegradable) detergent to keep your touché pillowcase in the best condition. Avoid using bleach as this will damage and wear away the fabric.
Fabric softener is not necessary as our eucalyptus silk is already super soft!
Our eucalyptus silk is wrinkle resistant however if wrinkles appear we recommend using a steamer to remove them. Alternatively you can use an on iron on a low temperature.
